How to look after your oral health on the go?

Going on vacation this holiday season? Don’t forget to take care of your teeth! As your travel buddies, they require just as much care, and attention on the road as when you are home. Here are a few tips to help prevent dental complications while traveling:

1) Keep supplies handy

Heading out on a long road trip? Keep floss, a toothbrush and a tube of toothpaste in the glove compartment. They’ll be easily accessible when you want to clean your teeth at a rest stop after snacking.

2) Skip the travel cases

Travel cases for toothbrushes seem like a great idea. They help prevent the bristles from touching surfaces that could transfer bacteria, right? Actually, the moist environment of a closed case can encourage bacterial growth. Skip the travel case and let your toothbrush air-dry before putting it away.

3) Watch What You Eat and Drink

Most people change their eating habits and tend to indulge more on vacation. Try to limit your intake of sweets and junk food while away from home. Take a pass on sugary aerated drinks, and opt for water, fresh fruit juices or sugar-free beverages instead.

4) Drink adequate water

Drinking adequate water will not only flush away the food debris from your mouth, thus preventing decay, but will also keep you hydrated and fresh throughout the day.Keep a bottle of water handy to keep the fatigue and tiredness at bay!

5) Carry a Pack of Sugar Free Gum

Carry sugar free chewing gum along with you as this will help to stimulate saliva in your mouth and prevent decay along with keeping the bad breath away!

These are just a few tips to consider as you travel. You must visit your dentist before you leave so that your decayed teeth don’t trouble you on vacation.
