Scaling and Polishing

It involves removal of a thin microbial film called dental plaque, along with calcified microbial deposits called calculus and stains from the surface of all teeth, between two teeth and between the teeth and the gums. This not only helps to maintain gingival health but also prevents tooth decay.

Restorations

We are proud to be an ‘amalgam-freedental clinic and believe in esthetic restorations. We are dependent on tooth colored restorative resins called composites; for restoring decayed, chipped off, worn out and discolored teeth.

Bonded Porcelain Restorations are ceramic restorations, fabricated in the laboratory with utmost precision and are regarded as the best available alternative for huge restorations and for replacing old amalgam restorations.

The chief advantage of conservative esthetic dentistry is the ability to keep the tooth vital and to prevent damage to the healthy tooth structure.

Root Canal Treatment (Endodontic Therapy)

It is indicated in the following cases:

  • When the dental nerve is infected because of decay or  physiologic /pathologic wearing off of  the tooth.
  • When the tooth is traumatized and has fractured or chipped off.
  • When the periodontal ligament of the tooth is irreversibly damaged/injured.

It is a procedure in which the dental nerve is extirpated and debrided after careful and precise cleaning and shaping of the root canal. It is then filled with an inert obturating material called gutta-percha.

Extractions

Extraction of a tooth is carried out only when it is impossible to save a tooth with any other treatment modality.

Modern techniques of anesthesia and better instruments allow painless removal of the infected tooth.

We advice replacement of the extracted tooth soon, in order to prevent space loss due to migration of the neighboring and/or opposing teeth.

Alignment of Teeth

Alignment of teeth is brought about by undergoing orthodontic treatment. It is concerned with the treatment of malocclusions (improper bites), which may be a result of tooth irregularity, disproportionate jaw relationships, or both. Orthodontic treatment can focus on dental displacement only, or can deal with the control and modification of facial growth. It can be carried out for purely aesthetic reasons with regards to improving the general appearance of patients’ smile, but more often than not it also contributes in improving the oral hygiene.

Orthodontic treatment involves the use of appliances which consist of brackets. These brackets can either be of metal or a more esthetic ceramic. Newer advances have facilitated the placement of these brackets lingually (inner surface of teeth); thus making it impossible for anyone to see them.

A recent advancement in this field is the use of Aligners which are a series of virtually invisible, removable trays that are to be worn sequentially. Each aligner is individually manufactured with exact calculations to gradually shift your teeth into place. This method has been responsible for making the entire process much more comfortable, convenient and complimentary to your smile, thus making it the preferred method of tooth alignment!

Crowns and Bridges

Different types of crowns are available depending upon their composition.

1. Full ceramic crowns:
Porcelain fused to zirconium and full ceramic crowns are distinguished by their excellent esthetics. Porcelain exhibits a natural fluorescence, and absorbs, reflects and transmits light exactly like the natural tooth structure. This effect makes the all-porcelain crown perfect for use in anterior areas. Another advantage of the metal free ceramic crown is the tooth- colored margin, which need not be placed under the gum line. Thus, the crown margin does not irritate the gum tissue and prevents gingival recession.

2. Porcelain fused to zirconia crowns:
These are ceramic crowns with a zirconium core.

3. Porcelain fused to metal crowns:
These are ceramic crowns with a metal core. These are more esthetic as compared to full metal crowns.

4. Full Metal crowns:

  • Nickel-Chrome metal crowns
  • Nickel-free alloy crowns
  • Precious metal crowns
  • Semi-precious metal crowns
